Electrical

Ceramics have traditionally been used for electrical applications, with products ranging from porcelain lamp holders to high-voltage precision insulators.

Glass should not be overlooked; it also has good electrical properties.

Examples include:

  • Precision tubular spacers for stacking metal plates in high-voltage equipment
  • Glass-to-metal seals and ceramic-to-metal seals in feedthroughs
  • Very accurate discs used as fixed capacitors
  • Machined quartz glass insulators
  • Bobbins for wire-wound components
  • Resistors printed onto ceramic substrates
